This is the first of a string of small features showing my favourite bra styles, I’ll be including three favourites of each style at the bottom. I’ll be starting off with Balconette bras and a short explanation of why I like them so much!
I’ve noticed lately that a lot of brands are claiming that their bras are Balconette when they’re actually not Balconette style. This can be very confusing unless you know what you’re looking for.
The correct definition of a Balconette cup, or Demi cup which is the actual style, is a bra that offers less coverage of your boobs and has an almost perfect horizontal cut across your breasts just above the bust line. Balconette bras can give your breasts a fuller look if they are padded, and a little lift too.
The original name Balconette comes from ‘men in the balcony of a theatre looking down upon women’. The Balconette bra could not be seen from above, just like a corset that is worn under clothing.
The other great thing about Balconette style bras is that a lot of them have removable straps so you can alter the style slightly to match your outfit for the time of year or occasion.
Here are my three favourites and all are true Balconette style and have credit crunching prices too!
