Ever wondered what to do with your old tights, well hosiery giant TightsPlease have started an Appeal to collect tights to send to the Addis Ababa Fistula hospital in Ethiopia.
524,000 women die from complications of pregnancy and childbirth each year and of these deaths, 99% occur in impoverished, developing countries. For every woman who dies, another 40 or 50 suffer severe injuries and complications.
TightsPlease.com are collecting used (washed) tights, the tights will be used to hold dressings in place when women suffer from childbirth injuries in particular when they suffer the Fistula condition. It can be very hard to hold these dressings in place and tights just happen to be the perfect solution.
You can send any type of tights as long as they are washed and do not have ladders towards the top/waist of the leg. If you don’t have any tights to send in then you can buy tights online here to send in.

I think this is a great appeal.
As far as sending money to charity goes, I think the donations where you actually get something in return are, although not quite charity, the most effective ways for charities to raise money. for example, you can buy a charity single by Dec from Ant and Dec for not much, but most of it goes to charity.
